Compassionate Family Law Services
Your Trusted Legal Partner
Chereen C. James, Esq. has years of experience in the judiciary as a Law Clerk for judges in the Family Law and Criminal Law Divisions of the Superior Court of New Jersey. Navigating family law matters can be challenging, but with her expertise, you will be assisted in navigating the challenges of the legal system, as well as the emotional weight of having a loved-one as an adversary.
With her educational experiences stemming from Stony Brook University in New York, and Rutgers Law School in Newark, New Jersey, Chereen James, Esq. is a first-generation attorney who will apply her well-rounded education to ensure excellent legal representation for her clients. Her legal career began with a legal clerkship for the Honorable Steven J. Taylor, P.J. Cr., who is the presiding criminal judge in Morris/Sussex County. Her legal experience then pivoted with a continuing legal clerkship in the court’s Family Law division for the Honorable Janine M. Allen, J.S.C.
It was her experience in the Family Law clerkship which solidified her decision to specialize in the area of Family Law, since it combines so much of her background into one area of law. Using her criminal law background, she volunteers with the Battered Women’s Legal Advocacy Project (BWLAP), which provides legal representation for victims of domestic violence. With her tax law background, which she developed at the Federal Income Tax Law clinic at Rutgers Law School, she became quite adept at analyzing finances for the calculation of child support and other financial awards in family law matters. Her family law clerkship allowed her to gain additional knowledge on Special Immigrant Juvenile guardianship petitions, Adoptions, Name Changes, international and domestic custody disputes, child support calculations, and more.
